According to today's Edinburgh Evening News, Birmingham City boss Alex McLeish has tabled a third bid for Hibs left back David Murphy.
The bid is thought to be in the region of £2m, with Hibs receiving a further £500,000 after the player has played a set number of games for the English Premiership club.
The Hibees have already turned down two bids of £1m, then £1.5m from McLeish in the last weeks or so, but this offer could tempt the Hibs board to sell.
Hibs chairman Rod Petrie is could be tempted to accept this bid, although
"They are playing hardball but we are not that far away.
"We have made our stance known and we won't capitulate to other people's demands."
It is also understood that Murphy would be offered wages of £20,000 a week and when you compare it to the £2,000 he is on at Hibs, it's frightening.
If the Murph does head South his debut for the City would be against
The Hibees full back said:
"I believe a move could be very close.
"
"I have enjoyed my time at Hibs, but the club know I want to return to the Premier League.
"I just hope that Hibernian can agree a deal to let me move on and I am looking forward to playing in
It will be a sad day when Murphy finally leaves Easter Road, but you can't blame him for wanting to play in one of the best league's in the world, astronomical wages and getting play at venues such as Old Trafford, Stamford Bridge, Anfield and the likes must also be a huge pull to the Middlesbrough born full back.
