According to reports in today's tabloids, English Championship side Cardiff City have tabled a bid for Hibees forward Steven Fletcher.

The fee reported to have been tabled is £3.5m, although some papers have it as a £3m bid.

Celtic have already had a £3m bid for Fletcher turned down by the Hibs board of directors, but this latest offer may tempt them.

Fletcher, 21, has already stated in the papers that he would like to move along the M8 and join Celtic, and it remains to be seen if a move to the lower leagues in England could entice the player south.

There has been no official statement as yet from Hibs about the apparent bid, but with the transfer window closing tonight, it's still unclear if Hibs boss Mixu Paatelainen will left Fletcher go, having already stating he would like him to stay.

It also does not leave Paatelainen much time to sign a replacement for the Scotland forward, although the Hibees do have French U21 international striker Steven Pinau, on loan from Serie A side Genoa, still waiting on his chance to shine.
