According to reports in tonight's press Celtic have tabled a bid for Hibs and Scotland forward Steven Fletcher.

Fletcher, 21, is under contract at Easter Road until 2013 and it would take a big offer to tempt the Hibees in to selling.

Celtic have offered the Hibees a £2.5m plus a player deal, but it is still unknown who the mystery player is.

The current Scottish Football Writers' young player of the year has been linked with a number of clubs, with Barcelona, Real Madrid, Newcastle United, Everton, Blackburn Rovers, Aston Villa, Middlesbrough, Wigan Athletic, Bolton Wanderers and Fulham all said to be keen on Fletcher.

A number of names have also been flying about as to who the unnamed Celtic player on offer is.

Paul Caddis, John Kennedy, Darren O'Dea, Paddy McCourt and even ex Hibs forward Chris Killen have been mentioned as possible levellers in the deal.

It is thought however that Hibs are looking for at least £3m up front for Fletcher, so let's hope the club stick to their guns.

Fletcher has now played 145 games for the Hibees scoring 38 goals in the process.

He also has 2 caps for Scotland after appearing against Norway in a 0-0 World Cup Qualifier and Croatia in a 1-1 friendly draw.
