Hibs have received a second offer for skipper Rob Jones from English side Colchester United.

The League One side have upped their offer from the original £100,000 to an equally pathetic £250,000.

6ft 7in Jones joined the Hibees from Grimsby Town for £150,000 during the summer of 2007 and has been superb since he signed.

The Hibees turned down £1m offers from both Leeds United and Ipswich Town last season, and are likely to be looking for AT LEAST that value for the in form stopper, should they consider selling.

Colchester are not the only club keeping an eye on Jones, Sheffield United, Ipswich Town, Bristol City and Leicester City are all interested in the giant centre half, and may yet make a move before the January transfer window closes.

Hibs boss Mixu Paatelainen is keen to keep his captain at the club, but his hand could be forced by the board, should an offer too good to turn down came in for the 29-year-old former school teacher.
