Dundee Utd to battle rivals Dundee for Hibs striker Simon Murray

Last updated : 16 May 2018 By Steve Forbes

According to reports this morning, Dundee Utd are ready to battle city rivals Dundee for the signature of Hibs striker Simon Murray.

Murray signed a pre-contract deal with the Hibees last year after he let his Dundee Utd contract run down

The 26-year-old hit 14 goals in his first 6 months at Easter Road, but was allowed to sign for Dundee on loan, so the Hibees could land Scott Allan, who was on loan at Dundee from Celtic, in a three-way transfer saga that involved on-loan Dundee keeper Scott Bain leaving Hibs and signing for Celtic.

Dundee Utd boss Csaba Laszlo has apparently targeted the former Tannadice striker as the man to finally fire United back to the Premiership.

However, Neil McCann is also keen to take him back to Dens Park on a permanent deal in the summer.

Hibs could throw a spanner in the works though, as they are said to be looking for a fee.
