Egyptian champions Al Ahly cancel transfer of Hibs striker Abdessalam Benjelloun!!

Egyptian side Al Ahly have tonight revealed that they have cancelled the transfer of Hibs forward Abdessalam Benjelloun.

Despite being pictured on the official Al Ahly website shaking hands with an official, and apparently signing a contract, Benjelloun will now not be going to the Egyptian champions.

Al Ahly had even went as far as to say, on their official site, that they would be paying 500,000 Euros for the Moroccan international, about £420,000.

They have now decided to sign Algerian Amir Sayoud instead of signing the Hibs striker.

Al Ahly board member Khaled Mortagey said:

"The deal has been cancelled.

"We have a young Algerian player called Amir Sayoud and we consider him the young Messi.

"From a technical point of view, Sayoud is much better for the team," he said. "It has nothing to do with Benjelloun - he's a great player.

"But the team needs Sayoud more for the coming season."

It now seems 24-year-old Benji will have no other option but to return to Edinburgh with his tail between his legs.
