Ex Hibs full back Jay Shields on the verge of joining Morton

Last updated : 29 July 2007 By Steve Forbes

It is thought that freed Hibs defender Jay Shields is on the verge of signing for newly promoted first division side Morton.

The ex Hibs defender was freed by John Collins at the end of last season and it now seems he's on his way to
Greenock, after impressing in training with the second division champions.

Morton boss Jim McInally seems determined to get his man after two players broke bones, but did say that their priority is a forward.

Talking about Shields, he said:

"Nothing's changed there. We'd like to sign him, but our priority is still a striker."
