Hibs boss John Collins has this afternoon ruled out a move for ex Hibs goal machine Derek Riordan.

According to reports in a morning tabloid, Celtic gaffer, Gordon "I hate to sign a Hibs player" Strachan, had told Hibs they could have Riordan back on loan for a season IF Celtic clinched the signing of Kilmarnock's exciting young striker Stevie Naismith.

The forward has struggled to break in to Celtic's first team since his pre-contract move to Parkhead this time last year.

Riordan, 24, was Hibs top scorer for three seasons running, scoring 60+ goals in the process, but Collins has ruled out a move.

The Hibees gaffer said:

"I haven't heard anything about this. It's another funny season story again."

"Riordan is a great finisher but we are looking for a specific striker, someone taller and he doesn't tick all the boxes of what we are looking for."
