Hibs chase Gillingham striker Tom Eaves

Hibs have been linked with a January move for giant Gillingham striker Tom Eaves.

According to reports Hibs boss Neil Lennon has watched the 6ft 5in striker on more than one occasion and is keen to bring the player, who he worked with before at Bolton Wanderers when he was just a youngster, to Easter Road.

Eaves, 26, has been in good form since signing for the Gills from Yeovil Town last summer, scoring 29 goals in 65 appearances.

He is out-of-contract in the summer, and the Hibees could move to sign him on a pre-contract in January, then try to agree with a fee to sign the player straight away.

Gillingham know other clubs are watching, but have yet to agree a new deal with their star striker.

Hibs have been short up front this season so far, with Florian Kamberi and Jamie Maclaren both picking up injuries.

Maclaren has struggled with injuries quite badly and is only now returning to full fitness.

The Hibees only have young Oli Shaw and Lewis Allan as backup options, and Lennon is clearly keen to bolster his forward line.
