Hibs have this afternoon confirmed the signings of Celtic defender Efe Ambrose & free agent Brian McLean.

Ambrose, 28, arrives on loan from Celtic until the end of the season, and McLean, 32, has signed a short term contract, also until the end of the season.

Both are eligible for tonight's trip to face St Mirren, in Paisley, in the Ladbrokes Championship.

Hibs boss Neil Lennon moved to sign both players after a defensive crisis hit the Hibees, with Paul Hanlon, Jordon Forster & Liam Fontaine all out injured.

Speaking to the offical club website, Lennon said:

“We were a little bit light on bodies in the central defensive position at the minute and bringing in Efe and Brian will fill that void.

“Both have fantastic experience in domestic football here in Scotland, as well as abroad. I know what qualities each of them possess and they will help to bolster the squad as we strive to achieve our goals this campaign.”
