Hibs youngster Darren McCormack was handed a boost today, when he was called up to the Scotland U21 squad.

McCormack, 19, has been drafted in after young Celtic defender Paul Caddis pulled out of the squad to face
Norway at Rugby Pak tonight.

Young McCormack recently signed a 5-year-deal at Easter Road after snubbing a pre-contract approach from Celtic.

The Scotland U19 captain made his league debut this season, playing the full 90 minutes in a 4-1 win over
Kilmarnock at Easter Road.

Hibs boss Mixu Paatelainen said:

"Billy Stark called me and asked about Darren after he had a couple of call-offs and I was happy to speak to him. I think that Darren has been excellent for our reserves this season, in games and in training, and he has been involved in a few first-team games for us.

"He is improving all the time and is a solid defender, hopefully he will continue to put pressure on the players in the first team next season.

"It is good that he is being given a chance to make an impression at international level as well and it is good for the club as well.

"It shows that our players have the right attitude. I think that it proves the club is going along the right lines and it is always a huge honour for any player and for Hibs when they are called up into the national side."
