Hibs defender James McPake has pulled out of the Northern Ireland squad for the World Cup Qualifying game with Portugal.

The Hibees captain has picked up an achillies injury, but is hopeful of making the trip to face Ross County a week on Saturday up in Dingwall.

Despite McPake's absence the Hibees will still be represented, with on loan Man City full back Ryan McGivern expected to start the game.

The 28-year-old made his debut for the Irish against Holland in June, as they lost 6-0 in a European Championship warm up game.
