Hibs have today confirmed that exciting young defender Kenayo Megwa has signed for Partick Thistle.
The 20-year-old right sided full-back, has joined the Maryhill side on loan until the end of the season.
Megwa spent two spells on loan last season with Airdrie, and also had a previous loan with Kelty Hearts.
The London born player has now returned to the Championship, this time with the Jags as he looks to push his way into the Hibees first team, just days after signing a new 4-year-contract with the club.
Kenayo has played 8 times for Hibs.
Speaking to the official club website, Hibs boss David Gray said:
“Due to the competition for places at right-back, this loan move makes complete sense for Kanayo as it allows him to gain regular senior football at a competitive level.
“He’s someone we’re really fond of and he needs regular game-time to keep developing. We’ve seen a positive change in him after each loan spell he’s been on, and I’m sure this will be another that hugely benefits him.”
HIBERNIAN-MAD VIEW
A good move for Kenayo.
He would have been 3rd choice behind Lewis Miller and Chris Cadden and may have made a few appearances here and there.
However this move allows him to get more game time to add to the 50 games he already has under his belt from previous loans, and if all goes well he could be on 80 or 90 appearances when he returns to Easter Road.
Hibs have tied him down on a long term deal, and must see him as a long term prospect for right back, and hopefully when he returns ready for the first team.
