Hibs defender Ryan McGivern set to sign for Port Vale

According to reports surfacing from south of the border, Hibs defender Ryan McGivern is set to leave Easter Road

The 24-year-old is said to have agreed terms, and today passed a medical with English League One side Port Vale.

McGivern had a shocking season in the SPL last year, and was told at the end of the season, by then Hibs boss Terry Butcher, he was free to leave the club.

However, despite new manager Alan Stubbs taking over the reigns down Leith, it seems the Northern Ieland international will still be allowed to leave the club.

McGivern arrived in Edinburgh from Manchester City last summer, following a previous impressive loan spell with the Hibees, on a two-year-deal.

Much was expected of the former Bristol City and Crystal Palace player, but he was a poor shadow of his former self, and along with his team mates, helped relegate Hibs with some awful display's in the green and white.

McGivern is expected to finalise the move in the next 24-48 hours and becomes the 16th player to leave Hibs over the summer.
