Hibs boss Mixu Paatelainen has revealed that he has ended the loan deal of German U21 international defender Torben Joneleit.

Joneleit, 20, arrived at Easter Road in the summer in a season-long loan deal but has only featured three times since his move and it was thought the player was becoming frustrated at failing to break up the Rob Jones/Chris Hogg partnership at the heart of the Hibees defence.

The German centre half only featured once from the start in a Hibs shirt, the 2-0 win over
Queens Park in the CIS Cup 2nd round at Hampden. He also appeared twice from the bench but big Mixu has decided to send him back to France.

The Hibs boss said:

"We decided it would be better for Torben's development that he return to
Monaco. First-team opportunities here have been very limited for him, Ian Murray can play there and we have youngsters like Darren coming through.

"I still feel we need to strengthen in defence with a little bit of experience."

Good luck in the future Torben, from everyone at www.hibernian-mad.co.uk
