Hibs have been handed a blow ahead of Sunday Scottish Cup visit to face Rangers at Ibrox, with the news that influential attacker Dean Shiels is a doubt for the game.

The 23-year-old
Northern Ireland international picked up a knee injury in training last week and missed Saturday's 0-2 defeat to Celtic at Easter Road.

Deano also missed training yesterday and could now be a doubt for the Scottish Cup 5th round replay against Rangers on Sunday.

With Benji also struggling to make it, Hibs could turn to out of the picture ex
York City hitman Clayton Donaldson.

Donaldson, 24, arrived on a bosman in the summer from the
Blue Square conference club, but has struggled to hold down a regular place in the first team at Easter Road since his arrival.

The English hitman has played sixteen games for the Hibees and has hit the net on six occasions, four of those being penalties, including a hat-trick against
Kilmarnock in October in a 4-1 win.

Hibs boss Mixu Paatelainen revealed:

"Dean is improving although he didn't train yesterday, he is still feeling his knee a bit. It's always important to have your players fit but if he isn't then there are others as well who are in contention.

"Benji will not play in the reserves at Kilmarnock tonight,"
said Paatelainen.

"Whether he needs a reserve game before he plays again we'll wait and see. Just now it's more important that he trains.

"Clayton is training hard just now and will play in the reserves tonight. Hopefully he does well and then we will look at things from there."

With new signing Colin Nish cup-tied, the Hibees could be facing a problem in the striking department as they head to Ibrox to try to help end the club's 106 year wait for Scottish Cup glory.
