Hibs striker Steven Fletcher has today done, what a number of his ex team mates have in the past - go running to the Glasgow press to try and win himself a move along the M8!!!

Ex Hibs gaffer Tony Mowbray is the No.1 target for Celtic as they look to replace Gordon Strachan as Parkhead manager, and Fletcher wants to follow him to Glasgow, should he get the job.

Hibs knocked back a £2.5m bid for Fletcher from the Glasgow club in January, and are holding out for closer to £4m.

Following in the footsteps of Kevin Thomson & Scott Brown, to name but a couple, speaking to the Glasgow Times, the Scotland forward gushed:

"I'm sure everybody knows I'm ambitious and if the opportunity comes along again, I think now might be the right time to leave.

"When Celtic were knocked back, I was a bit disappointed. I had to show some character and come through that and prove I could still play.

"But I thought I handled it well. I kept scoring goals. It didn't affect me in a bad way."

Speaking of former boss Mowbray, he said:

"Tony was a big help for me. I was just breaking through at Hibs when he was there and he knew when to play me and when I needed a rest.

"He was a massive influence on my career, not just as a manager, but as a friend, too.

"I was just a young boy and it was a bit daunting going into the first-team dressing room, but he was great.

"I want to push myself to further my career and if that means moving on from Hibs, then so be it.

"If I'm good enough, then happy days. If I'm not, then we'll see what happens."

Still under contract to Hibs and showing total disrespect to the club that has given him the chance to shine, don't let the door hit you on the way out Steven.
