Hibs hand trial to freed Rangers defender Harris O'Connor

It's been revealed tonight that Hibs have taken free agent Harris O'Connor on trial.

According to the Daily Record, the freed former Rangers kid has joined up with Jack Ross' side at the club's training facility East Mains.

19-year-old O'Connor has recently had trial spells with Burnley, Stoke City, Sheffield Unted and Airdrie (who wanted to sign him, but decided to let him chase a move to a bogger club).

The report claims Harris is still waiting on a decision from some of the English sides, but couldn't turn down the chance to train with Hibs in the meantime.

Harris left Ibrox this summer, and had a previous loan spell with irdrie under his belt.

Ed's View:

Hibs badly need defensive reinforcements.

Wether this kid is ready for the first team  is questionable, but he may be an option for the DV side.

No harm in taking a look, he obviously has enough about him to attract interest from the Premiership south of the border.

The Hibees need for new faces was once again in the spotlight at the weekend, with Christian Doidge, Paul Hanlon, Joe Newell, Kevin Nisbet, Chirs Cadden and Melker Hallberg all out, the bench looked weak.

Let's hope the news we are still trying to sign St Johnstone defender  McCart, after several bids were rejected, is true.

Hibs are also said to still be trying to get pre-contract signing Chris Mueller in early, after securing his pre-contract January signing.
