Hibs have tonight turned down a £1.5m bid for outstanding left back David Murphy from
Birmingham City.

Blues boss Alex McLeish is a massive fan of the full back and is keen to land the former
Middlesbrough youngster in the January transfer window.

Hibs are thought to be looking for somewhere in the region of £2m for the fans favourite as they look resigned to losing a layer that's now played over 130 games for the club since signing for the Hibees in the summer of 2004 on a free from Middlesbrough.

Murphy, 23, is keen on a return to English football and would see a move to the Premiership side as ideal.

Tottenham Hotspur, Wigan Athletic, Celtic, Rangers and Aston Villa are all monitoring the situation.

Good news, it's pretty obvious that Murphy will probabley leave during the January transfer window, but it's good to see the club on the verge of securing another excellent transfer fee, for a player that they have developed from a raw rookie into an outstanding full back. Let's just hope the board invest it in our struggling squad.
