Hibs sell defender Shelton Martis to West Brom for £50,000

It has been revealed that Hibs centre half Shelton Martis has joined West Bromwich Albion for £50,000.

Martis, 25, joined the Hibees from English league 2 side
Darlington and has struggled with the step up to the SPL after signing on a free from the Quakers.

Astonishingly ex Hibs manager Tony Mowbray has moved to take big Shelts down to the Hawthorns with him.

Martis started well when he arrived in
Edinburgh, but faded badly, eventually losing his place to the impressive Chris Hogg. His form cost him a cup final start at Hampden against Kilmarnock and he never got the shirt back from Hogg.

The Dutch Antilles defender has signed a 2-year-contract with the Baggies and manager Tony Mowbray is delighted, he said:

"I worked with
Shelton at the start of last season in Scotland.

"He's not the finished article but has huge potential. I want to give him a platform to perform - he could become a very good player for our club."

Good luck Shelton from everyone at Hibernian-Mad.Co.uk
