Hibs set to name Andy Holden as No2 to Alan Stubbs

Hibs are today expected to announce former Everton coach Andy Holden as the No.2 to new boss Alan Stubbs.

Stubbs took the reigns at Easter Road last week, and was expected to bring David Unsworth with him as his assistant.

However, Unsworth decided to stay down south, and Stubbs has tuned his attention to another former Everton colleague to take the post.

Holden was Everton U21 coach, before being replaced by Stubbs in 2008, and was part of David Moyes backroom team at Goodison, before he left to take over Manchester United at the start of last season.

The former Wales defender has since been out of work, after leaving Everton at the same time as Moyes.

Hibs Head Coach Stubbs said:

“He’s going to be a fantastic addition to the staff.

“I don’t want to tempt fate until it’s all signed, but from my point of view I feel I’ve got the best man.

“He’s very knowledgeable. He’s worked with David Moyes for 11 years so that’ll tell you about the esteem he was held in. He’ll be a valuable addition here.”
