Hibs set to sign Manchester City Winger Brandon Barker

Last updated : 16 August 2017 By Steve Forbes

According to several reports in the media, Hibs are closing in on the signing of Manchester City winger Brandon Barker.

The 20-year-old will arrive in Edinburgh in the next 24 hours to discuss the move and go through a medical.

Barker, who predominantly plays on the left wing, is expected to sign a season long loan deal at Easter Road.

Hibs had already stated that there would be no more summer signings after landing Anthony Stokes from Blackburn Rovers.

However, since then, striker Brian Graham has joined English League Two side Cheltenham Town, and midfielder Scott Martin is expected to head out on loan, freeing up wages in Neil Lennon's budget.

The news also comes off the back of the news that Hibs winger Martin Boyle is facing four weeks on the sidelines after picking up a training ground injury.

Barker has made one appearance for Man City, against Chelsea, as a sub, in the FA Cup.

He has also had a short loan spell with Rotherham, playing four times and scoring one goal.

Barker's most successful spell was last season, when he was out on loan with Dutch club NAC Breda. He made twenty-two first team appearances and scored two goals, winning promotion to the Eredivisie in the process.
