Hibs have today, finally, secured the signing of Norwich City defender Steven Whittaker.

Whittaker has signed a 3-year-deal to become Neil Lennon's fifth summer signing, following the arrivals of Efe Ambrose, Danny Swanson, Simon Murray and Ofir Marciano.

The 33-year-old returns to Easter Road 10 years after leaving in a £2m transfer to the now liquidated Rangers.

Whittaker was part of the club's much lauded "golden generation" and was part of the 2007 Scottish League Cup winning side.

Speaking to the official club website, he said:

"I am delighted to be back at Hibernian. When I decided to return to Scotland, Hibernian was the club I hoped to come to.

"While the discussions have taken a while, they have always been positive and I am very pleased to be back playing at Easter Road for the Hibernian fans, and I hope I can play my part in ensuring a successful return to the top flight."

Whittaker will add real quality to the squad, having played in the English Premiership, English Championship and Uefa Cup final after leaving the Hibees.

He has played over 490 games in his career and scored nearly 40 goals. he has also been capped 18 times for Scotland U21 and 31 times for Scotland, and has won 10 major honours in his career.

An excellent addition to the squad, welcome home Whitty.
