Hibs striker Darryl Duffy out for 8 weeks with broken foot

Hibs have today been dealt a hammer blow, with the news that new striker Darryl Duffy has broken his foot.

The former Hull City and Falkirk striker, on loan at Easter Road from Bristol Rovers, is facing up to at least 8 weeks out.

26-year-old Duffy was signed as a replacement for out going Anthony Stokes, who signed for Celtic in a £1.3m deal last week.

Hibs boss John Hughes now has a decision to make, does he keep the player, and not have him available for a good 8 weeks or more, or does he end the loan early and replace him?

Hughes is said to already be looking at adding another forward to the squad, but with Duffy, who was injured before he could make his Hibs debut, now out for the long haul, does he now need two?

Hibs only have Derek Riordan and Colin Nish fit, young Kurtis Byrne is on loan at East Fife.

Hughes has had his eye on a couple of trialists, who have both impressed – Dutchman Romano Denneboom and Lithuanian international Valdas Trakys, could he now swoop for both???
