Hibs have turned down a bid for striker Abdessalam Benjelloun from Belgian side KVC Westerlo.

Benjelloun's agent hinted that the Hibees had turned down a bid for the Moroccan striker from a side who finished 9th in the Belgian league last season.

The 23-year-old Hibees hitman has attracted the interest of another two Belgian sides all season, giants
Anderlecht and Royal Charleroi SC, who finished one place above Westerlo in 8th.

Anderlecht are also in the mix, they are thought to be monitoring the situation and are ready to pounce with a £1m offer, should Hibs decide to sell the talented Moroccan.

Hibs manager Mixu Paatelainen has revealed that the club had received a bid, but refused to say who from and only that it has been rejected.

He also declined to reveal the value of the bid.

Speaking on Benji's attributes, Mixu said:

"Benji is a quality striker, no doubt about that, and I value him. He's a fantastic player, a goal-scorer, very skilful and we all know what he is capable of doing. He's had a frustrating season but every player goes through that at some stage in their career."
