Hibs have been handed a massive boost ahead of their trip to face Motherwell at Fir Park on Saturday, with the news that Moroccan midfield magician Merouane Zemmama could be in line to start.

The 24-year-old winger has hardly played much football at all over the last few weeks as he followed the Muslim practice of Ramadan, meaning he can't eat or drink during day light hours.

Zemmama has come off the bench a few times during that period, but countryman Benji has struggled and hasn't featured at all.

The Moroccan wizard played in Hibs reserves 4-0 win over
Kilmarnock at Almondvale yesterday and put in a man of the match performance to give Hibs gaffer John Collins food for thought for Saturday's trip to Lanarkshire.

Zemmama scored one and set up another for Sean Lynch as the Hibees second string demolished their
Kilmarnock counterparts.

Damon Gray and an own goal added the other two goals for a Hibs reserve side that also included Dean Shiels, Darren McCormack and Andy McNeil.

Hibs boss John Collins said:

"Merouane did really well, he scored one of our goals and he was superb.

"He's been in and out of the side over the last few weeks but he seems to have adjusted well to a different eating pattern again and has been taking on fluids through the day again.

"He's looking really well on it, he has been sharp in training, he's fit and strong again, and he showed that in the game yesterday.

"He was taking it a bit easier today because we don't want to push him too much, his body still has to have time to adapt again, but he certainly seems to be doing well so far.

"We know what he is capable of, and it helps when your body is already very fit, so we'll take a look at him later in the week.

"All of the reserves played well, especially in the first half when we created a lot of chances.

"We maybe slowed it down a bit after the break, but it was an all-round good performance with four goals and I think it was the best they have played all season."
