Hibs youngster Jacob Blaney signs new deal and joins Stenhousemuir on loan

Hibs have revealed that they have teid down another exciting youngster on a new contract.

Defender Jacob Blaney has signed a new contract that keeps him tied to Easter Road until the summer of 2025.

The 18-year-old has also joined Scottish League Two side Stenhousemuir until the end of the season.

Blaney has already made his first team debut, during the final game of last season against St Johnstone at Easter Road and was also part of the Hibees U19 side that went on an impressive run in this seasons Uefa Youth League, eventually going out in the last 32 to Borussia Dortmund.

Dortmund beat the Hibees 1-2 at Easter Road, Blaney giving us the lead with a smart header.

Blaney also played for the first team against Bonnyrigg Rose in this seasons Scottish League Cup.

Speaking to the official club website, Hibs Academy boss Steve Kean said:

“First and foremost, Jacob’s contract extension is very well deserved. He has been a standout performer not only this season for Hibs, but throughout all his years within the Hibernian FC Academy.

“This opportunity will give him a good taste of playing First Team football in an extremely competitive environment which will be great for his ongoing development.

“The beauty of the loan is that he will also be able to continue playing for the Hibs Dev Squad on Tuesdays, whilst playing for Stenhousemuir on a Saturday, so we will be able to monitor his progress closely.”
