It has been confirmed that midfielder Kevin Thomson has left Hibs after his short term contract expired.

The former Rangers, Middlesbrough, Dundee and Scotland midfielder has left Easter Road following a THIRD spell with the club.

Thomson only re-joined the Hibees in January and doubled up with coaching the development squads at the club.

However he has now left the club, and joins Farid El Alagui & Chris Dagnall in not having their contracts renewed.

In a surprise move, revealed by the Edinburgh Evening News, Thomson has been training with, and looking likely to sign for Junior side Tranent. He is expected to play and take up a coaching role at the newly promoted club.

Liam Henderson, Anthony Stokes and Niklas Gunnersson have also left the club after their loan deals ended.

Thomson, of course, was part of the first Hibs squad to lift the Scottish Cup in 114 years, when they beat Rangers 2-3 at Hampden just four weeks ago.

Over his three spells at Easter Road, Thomson played 137 games and scored 3 goals.

Good luck Kevin, from everyone at Hibernian-Mad.
