It is understood that Russian giants Lokomotiv Moscow will move for Hibs forward Derek Riordan this coming summer.

The 26-year-old striker only re-joined the Hibees in the summer from Celtic in a £400,000 deal and signed a 3-year-deal at Easter Road.

Lokomotiv Moscow attempted to sign Riordan from Hibs before, but the Scotland international didn't fancy the move to Russia and joined Celtic instead in a cut-price £150,000 deal, as he only had 3 months left on his then Hibs contract.

Hibs also accepted a bid from German Bundesliga side Kaiserslautern at the time, Riordan also turned this move down.

Riordan's Easter Road striker partner at the time, Garry O'Connor, did sign for Lokomotiv in a £1.6m deal and the Russian side had been keen to see the pair lead the line in Moscow.

The Russian side are considering offering the Hibees £1.5m for the talisman striker, £1m up front and a further £500,000 dependant on goals and appearances.

The Hibees would be unwilling to sell Riordan, a massive fans favourite at Easter Road, and would surely face a backlash from the support should the allow the move to happen.
