Serie A side Bolonga eye move for Hibs defender Josh Doig

According to the Edinburgh Evening News, Italian side Bolonga are on the trail of young Hibs full-back Josh Doig.

The Serie A side are ready to move for Doig, should they lose former Hearts defender and Scotland international Aaron Hickey, who is attracting giants AC Milan, Arsenal, Aston Villa and Napoli amongst others.

Hibs beat of interest in Doig last summer, with the likes of AC Milan, Arsenal, Man City and Newcastle were all linked.

They also rejected a reported £2.8m bid from Watford, and the News claims Bolonga rate Doig in the £2.5m-£3.5m range.

Doig had another good season at Easter Road, and followed up his Scottish Young Player of the Year award from the 2020/21 season, with being nominated for it again.

He has now played over 70 times for the Hibees.

HIBS-MAD VIEW:

It would be a big blow to lose Josh, he started last season slowly but ended it playing really well.

If Hibs were to pocket another big fee, off the back of selling Martin Boyle to Saudi Arabia for £3m, surely some money would need to be invested to replace Josh?

The Hibees are in a good financial position, with last accounts showing £7m+ in the bank, and that DIDN'T include the Boyle money.

Let's hope we can kick on this summer and invest well and put a good side on the pitch.
