St Johnstone eye Hibs midfielder Melker Hallberg

It has been reported by various sources today, that out-of-favour Hibs midfielder Melker Hallberg is wanted by St Johnstone.

Saints boss Callum Davidson has targeted the Sweden international as he looks to get the Perth club out of the relegation zone.

It's understood that Hibs boss Shaun Maloney doesn't see the player in his long term plans and is open to him leaving Easter Road, wether on loan or a permanent basis.

Hallberg, 26, hasn't played this season after picking up a dislocated knee-cap, but has returned to fitness and is keen for a move to Perth to be permanent.

Paul Heckingbottom signed Hallberg on a free, when his contracted was terminated after his club Velje were relegated at the end of the 2018-19 season.

His contract in Leith runs out this summer.

He has played 60 times for the Hibees, scoring 3 goals.

Hibernian-Mad View:

Not a shock this one.

Hallberg is a decent player, but he has struggled with form and injury and finds himself on the fringes looking in.

He has been competent in the green and white, without ever setting the place on fire.

Hibs boss Shaun Maloney has already bolstered his midield this window and is still expected to busy, pushing the Swede further down the pecking order at ER.

St Johstone would be a good move for him.
