Steven Whittaker set to leave Hibs!!!

Last updated : 01 August 2007 By Steve Forbes

According to reports in today's press, it looks as though Steven Whittaker has played his last game for the Hibees.

Apparently Steven Whitaker's agent, Ken Anderson, has revealed that Middlesbrough & Blackburn Rovers have joined Rangers in the chase for the Hibs right back.

Whittaker, 23, is expected to command a fee approaching £2m after being a regular in the side since 2004.

The Scotland U-21 star has made 173 appearances for Hibs and is the last of a group of exciting kids that broke through in to the same Easter Road side together to leave the club.

If a deal is struck, Whittaker will join Ian Murray (Rangers Bosman), Derek Riordan (Celtic pre-contract - £300k), Garry O'Connor (Lokomotiv
Moscow £1.6m, now with Birmingham City), Scott Brown (Celtic £5.5m), and Kevin Thomson (Rangers £2m) to leave the Hibees.

Hopefully Steven will show a bit of ambition and go and try his luck in the English Premiership and not take the lazy route along the M8 to
Glasgow eh??

What is disappointing is once again being told there would be no more sales, after the pre-season departures of Ivan Sproule, Chris Killen, Michael Stewart & Scott Brown, only to find out one month later, that there will be.
