Hibs midfielder Scott Brown wins SFWA Young Player of the Year!!!!!

Last updated : 02 May 2007 By Steve Forbes

Hibs midfield dynamo Scott Brown has been voted the Young Player of the Year by the Scottish Football Writers' Association it has been revealed this afternoon.

Brown, 21, won it ahead of exciting Kilmarnock forward Stevie Naismith, who won the Scottish Players Player version ahead of Brown, just a few weeks ago.

Brown was delighted with the award and said:

"I am happy to be honoured in this way, especially when you consider the terrific young players who were nominated.

"It has been a great year for me. Lifting the CIS Cup was the highlight, along with playing for Scotland in Italy."

The dynamic Hibs midfielder is a wanted man and will be leaving Easter Road in the summer.

Brown has seen his stock rise dramatically, when he had two excellent games for
Scotland last month against Georgia & Italy. He came from the bench against Georgia to change the game with his power and directness and was the best player in a Dark Blue shirt when he made his first Scotland start against Italy in Bari.

There looks like being a £5m battle for his signature with Tottenham Hotspur, Everton,
Middlesbrough, Bolton Wanderers, Lokomotiv Moscow, Anderlecht, Rangers & Celtic being just a number of clubs chasing the player's signature.
