Gary McSwegan scored four goals as Kilmarnock romped to a 6-2 victory over Hibernian.
Killie took the lead in the 11th minute with a great goal. Peter Canero and Freddie Dindeleux combined to set up Stevie Fulton who spotted Gary MacDonald's burst into the box. The veteran played the ball into his path and the youngster finished emphatically past Nick Colgan.
Kilmarnock should have been two ahead three minutes later when Alan Mahood's cross evaded the entire Hibs defence to leave Gary McSwegan with a golden chance three yards from goal only to blast the ball over.
Hibs deservedly equalised in the 17th minute when Matthias Jack fed Ian Murray and he coolly beat Kilmarnock debutant goalkeeper Colin Stewart from 12 yards.
It took only 6 minutes for Kilmarnock to regain the lead when Fulton's free-kick fell to McSwegan who swept home a sweet half-volley.
McSwegan forced Colgan into a fingertip save with a long range effort on 31 minutes but the keeper was helpless 10 minutes later when the striker stoked home another half-volley from 25 yards.
McSwegan only had to wait for two second half minutes to claim his hat-trick as Andy McLaren unselfishly crossed for him to nod home after out-stripping Mathias Doumbe. And McSwegan hadn't finished there. A free-flowing move ended with Canero powering in on goal before squaring the ball to McSwegan to tap in number 5.
Matthias Jack pulled one back for Hibs when his shot squirmed in off Stewart's left hand post 6 minutes from time. Substitute Kris Boyd rubbed more salt into ex-gaffer Bobby Williamson's wounds as he won and converted a penalty kick in the final minute after being brought down by Paul Fenwick.
