Cash-strapped Livingston ended the season in style with a comprehensive 4-1 victory against Hibs.

The result means that Livi end the campaign in ninth place, just one point and one place behind their Edinburgh rivals.

It took just eight minutes for the hosts to take the lead as Derek Lilley set up Stuart Lovell who had no problem scoring with a close-range shot against his former club. It was the captain's first goal of the season.

In a typical end-of-season affair both sides struggled to create many clear-cut chances in a disappointing first half but the match livened up after the break as Livi took control.

Derek Lilley doubled their advantage in the 64th minute with his 18th goal of the season. Midfielder John Paul McGovern sent in an inviting cross that Lilley got to first, sending a powerful header past Daniel Andersson in the Hibs goal.

Back came Jim Clark's side and they halved the deficit in the 75th minute. Grant Brebner sent Mathias Doumbe running clear and he stabbed a shot through a crowded penalty area and past Roddy McKenzie.

However, Livingston restored their two-goal lead just two minutes later when David Fernandez rifled a shot home from Burton O'Brien's cross.

In the last minute David Hay's side sealed a comfortable win with a simple fourth goal.

Lee Makel profited from a brilliant David Fernandez throughball before firing his shot past Andersson.
