Happy Birthday to Pat Stanton 60 today
13th Sept.2004
Pat Stanton wore the No# 4 of Hibs for nearly 13 years, appearing 398 times, scoring 50 goals and appearing 16 times for his country, though he is better known for his commanding presence as Captain and leader of a very Entertaining Hibs team especially in the seventies under the management of a 'Famous Five Member' in Eddie Turnbull.

Pat lifting the 1972 League Cup as Captain

Born in Edinburgh September the 13th 1944, I remember my Granny telling me how Pat used to come down to my Gran's in Craigentinny, for his tea occasionally, before heading back to Fife an that he was distantly related to me on my Grans side of the family, the Brady's from Fife, and to this day I still don't know if it was true, or if she was just pleasing a spotty wee grandson. Either way, Thanks Granny Wilson it worked a treat.
Pat Captained the Hibs side in our Centenary year in 1975 and it so happens he is a direct descendant of the First ever Hibs Captain Michael Whelehan
Pat, or 'God' as some Hibs fans came to call him, came to Hibernian from Bonnyrigg Rose Athletic in 1963 as a 19 year old and left for the lesser greens of Celtic in 1976, having spent 13 of his best footballing years at a Club he never stopped loving.
Pat's time with the lesser greens saw him win a League and Scottish Cup to add to the League Cup victory with Hibs against Celtic in 1972
