Anderlecht rule out Zemmama move as 'too expensive'

Last updated : 16 June 2009 By Steve Forbes

Anderlecht have posted a message on their official website admitting to interest in Hibs midfielder Merouane Zemmama, but also to say the move would be too expensive.

Whether they mean they have already been in contact with Hibs over a fee, or have spoken wages with the midfielder is, as yet, unclear.

Zemmama, 25, has spent the last 12 months on loan at United Arab Erimates side Al Shaab, after his new wife had visa problems trying to move to the UK.

The Belgian side sent a scout to watch another Moroccan player, while up against Cameroon, but he left singing the praises of the little Hibs magician.

"Zoomer" as he is affectionately known down Leith way, is expected to return to the Hibees this summer, and has two years left on his Easter Road deal.
