Hibs striker Abdessalam Benjelloun has become a summer transfer target for Belgian cracks Anderlecht.

Anderlecht boss Ariel Jacobs has sent scouts to Easter Road all season to check on the 23-year-old, but has been left disappointed after Benji endured a frustrating season filled with injury and loss of form.

Benji first came to the attention of the Belgian side after firing 14 goals for the Hibees in the 2006/07 season as they lifted the Scottish League Cup at Hampden, Benji scored two as the Hibees triumphed 5-1 over
Kilmarnock in the final.

Anderlecht finished second in the Belgian league last season and are looking to build on their squad as the look to challenge for the title next season and have had Benji watched whilst he has played for Morocco over the last couple of weeks.

The striker took his tally to three goals in three games for
Morocco as he scored against Mauritania on Saturday, Morocco won 4-1.

Benjelloun has also scored against
Ethiopia and Belgium in Morocco's last two games.

Hibs would be looking for a deal in the region of £1m plus add-ons if they are to sell the frustrated hitman.
