English Championship side Aston Villa have been linked with a January move for Hibs midfielder John McGinn.

According to Football League World and Football Insider 247 the Birmingham based club will make their move in January and hope to fend off renewed interest from Championship rivals Nottingham Forest.

Forest had three bids rejected in the summer, with their highest being reported as £2m, and are expected to come back in for the 23-year-old.

However, there could also be interest from Celtic, with Brendan Rodgers having previously stated his admiration for the Scotland player. McGinn is also, of course, a huge Celtic supporter, which could sway any move.

McGinn will still have around 18 months left on his Easter Road contract when the window opens, and Hibs would be looking for a massive fee to let their star man go.
