Benjelloun returns to Easter Road

Hibs boss John Hughes has tonight confirmed that Moroccan forward Abdessalam Benjelloun has finally returned to Easter Road.

The 24-year-old has been A.W.O.L from the Edinburgh side's training ground since being pictured supposedly signing for Egyptian side Al Ahly in a £500,000 deal.

He has spent the last 12 months out on loan at two Belgian sides, Roeselare and RSC Charleroi, but despite his loan deal ending almost 6 weeks ago, the striker failed to return to Easter Road.

It now seems Benjelloun will be handed another chance to save his Hibs career, despite Hughes stating a few weeks back that Benjelloun had burnt his bridges.

Hughes now seems keen to give Benji a chance to prove his doubters wrong, the Hibs boss said:

“Benjelloun is back in training with us, he has come in with his tail between his legs, I think he had to apologise to a few People, not just me but also the players at the club.

“It’s not done and dusted yet, in terms of what is going to happen to him, but I think he owes the supporters something, and may owe me something.

“The one thing about him is that he certainly has the talent, and I was speaking to him yesterday and laying the markers down, that there is a new regime at this club, and he has to work hard, roll the sleeves up and earn everything that he wants out of the game”
