Celtic linked with Hibs midfielder John McGinn

According to reports in today's newspapers, Celtic are on the verge of making a bid for Hibs midfield dynamo John McGinn.

Celtic are said to be set to offer the Hibees £1.5m for the Scotland internationalist.

Hibs will be desperate to keep their star man, and are expected to turn down the offer for a player, who has now won both domestic cup competitions, played on the European stage and at international level, and will be looking for a bigger fee should they sell.

McGinn still has two years left on his Easter Road contract, and has been superb since signing from St Mirren in the summer of 2015, with the Hibees paying a reported £200,000 compensation fee, with an apparent 33% sell-on clause for the Buddies thrown into the deal.

The 22-year-old has written himself into club folklore as part of last season's Scottish Cup winning side, and has already stated he may need to look at his options this summer.

Celtic, however, look like facing some competiton, with both Sunderland & West Brom said to be monitoring the situation, which would be good news for Hibs, should a bidding war start.
