www.hibernian-mad.co.uk understands that out of favour Hibs forward Dean Shiels is apparently a transfer target for English Championship side Colchester United.

The
Northern Ireland internationalist has fallen down the pecking order at Easter Road, under John Collins, over the last couple of months and it seems Colchester boss Geraint Williams is a huge admirer of Shiels.

Shiels failed to establish himself back in the Hibs side last season after coming back from an operation to remove an eye which was causing the star pain. He was blinded in one eye after an accident while he was a child and the eye started to cause him pain, so was removed.

Hibs fans' favourite Shiels has so far failed to feature in the side this season and has just recently come out and said he wants a new contract at Easter Road, his current one runs out at the end of this season.

Hibs boss John Collins must SURELY be looking to keep a talent like Shiels at the club and may face a bit of a fans backlash if he chose to push the player out the door. Let's hope the Hibs boss sees sense and offers the exciting ex Arsenal youngster a new contract, instead of allowing him leave Easter Road.
