It’s been revealed today that the Hibees Easter Road Stadium has been chosen to host the European U21 Play-off between Scotland and Iceland.

The Leith San Siro will host the second leg on Monday the 11th October, the day before the full squad face World Champions Spain at Hampden.

Hibs have just completed the redevelopment of Easter Road, following the £3.2m re-building of the East Stand, taking the grounds capacity to 20,250.

Hopefully a big crowd will turn up to cheer on the young Scots, as they bid to qualify for the European Championship’s held in Denmark next summer.

Scotland U21’s last played at Easter Road in 2003, as they faced Croatia in the play-offs.

The young Scots won 1-0, through a Garry O’Connor strike, in front of over 12,000, but Rainer Bonhoff’s side missed out after the losing the first leg 2-0.
