Europa League: Brondby 0-1 Hibs (Hibs lose 5-3 on pens)

Hibs put in an outstanding performance tonight, in the second leg of their Europa League Qualifier with Danish SuperLiga outfit Brondby.

The Hibees had to defend for long periods but put in another fine display in Denmark.

David Gray gave Hibs the lead on 63 minutes, when he hooked home, following a scramble in the box from a corner.

The Hibees held off their hosts and took it to extra time, (with debutant goalie Ross Laidlaw pulling of a couple of excellent saves), and then penalties.

Agonisingly the Hibees lost the shoot-out 5-3, with the outstanding John McGinn missing the opening penalty, which cost Hibs the tie.

However, every single Hibs player can hold their heads high, they were superb.

If it wasn't for some shocking decisions from the officials in the first leg, we would be through to play Hertha Berlin.

A special mention to the superb 1,023 Hibs fans that travelled.

Bring on the new season!!
