Hibs boss Mixu Paatelainen has offered English midfielder Joe Keenan a trial with the Hibees over their pre-season programme.

Keenan, 25, will join the Hibs squad when they return to pre-season on Monday ahead of the Hibees first Uefa Intertoto Cup match on July 6th at Easter Road, against either
Faeroe Islands side Torshavn or Swedish side Elfsborg.

The former
Chelsea player is currently on the books of Australian club Melbourne Victory, but they have given him permission to go on trial at other clubs.

He has already impressed on trial at another Australian A league side, Newcastle Jets, but the manager of Newcastle Jets has revealed that Keenan has been offered a trial with the Hibees.

Jets boss Gary Van Egmond said:

"He looked okay, he has got a trial with Hibs, so he's going to go there and have a look at that as well, and we'll take it from there."

Keenan only appeared for
Chelsea on two occasions. He has also played for VC Westerlo of Belgium, making 40 appearances, English side Brentford making 3 appearances and Willem II of Holland, making 20 appearances, before moving to Australia.
