Former Hibs striker Benji sees move to Germany collapse

Last updated : 06 July 2010 By Steve Forbes

Former Hibs striker Abdessalam Benjelloun is once again on the look-out for a new club – after failing to agree terms with Grunther Furth.

Benji, 25, had went through a medical at the Bundesliga 2 side, and looked certain to sign, but the deal has collapsed at the last minute.

The Moroccan international will always be fondly remembered by the Hibs support, after his two goals in the 2007 League Cup Final win over Kilmarnock at Hampden.

At times, he was one of the most naturally gifted players to play for the club, but failed to really hit the heights at Easter Road.

Benjelloun spent time on trial at two Belgian clubs during his stay in Edinburgh, RSC Charleroi and Roeselaire after falling out with then boss Mixu Paatelainen.
