Grounds unlikely to extend Hibs loan deal

Hibs boss Colin Calderwood looks set to lose on loan Middlesbrough full back Jonathan Grounds.

The 22-year-old defender has been on loan at Easter Road since the summer, and Calderwood seems keen to keep him until the end of the season.

Calderwood said:

"I have spoken to Tony about it but we're still not at that date that we have to make a decision. I spoke to him last week and we'll make contact again in the coming week."

Middlesbrough boss Tony Mowbray seems to have other ideas though, the ex Hibs gaffer said:

"As things stand, though, I think he's likely to be coming back soon."

Grounds loan at the Hibees ends on January 29th, and despite a promising start, hasn’t really produced the goods in the SPL.

His departure would also free up more funds for Calderwood to bolster his squad during the January transfer window.
