Well folks, the votes have been counted, and verified, and the Hibernian-Mad Player of the Year 2009/10 is big Colin Nish. Now, Nish came from nowhere over the last few days of the poll to land the award, and it's all due to some pathetic Yams on the wind up. Anthony Stokes was streaking away with the votes until our Yam visitors intervened, but it backfired hugely, with big Nishy hitting 5 goals in his last 2 games, to secure European football at Easter Road next season. Ian Murray also picked up a lot of votes, and came a close 3rd. We would like to thank our Yam visitors for the hits, and for backing our winner, who has shot the Hibees to Europe, a place the pub team won't be visiting. Nish scored 12 goals for the Hibees last term, and although he wasn't anywhere near finishing top goalscorer at the club, his hard work for the team sometimes goes unnoticed, and this award will surely go towards acknowledging that. The final standings for the poll were as follows:
The 29-year-old former Kilmarnock and Dunfermline hitman becomes the sixth player to win our now very popular yearly poll.
The previous winners of our poll are as follows:
2004/05 - Garry O'Connor
2005/06 - David Murphy
2006/07 - Abdessalam Benjelloun
2007/08 - Chris Hogg
2008/09 - Rob Jones
It was another popular year for our poll, with over 1000 votes, we would like to take this oppertunity to thank everyone who voted.
