Hibs - Easter Road Stadium to host Scotland U-21 game????

Last updated : 06 September 2007 By Steve Forbes

If reports this afternoon are to be believed then Easter Road could be in the frame to host another international in the near future.

Rumour has it, that the SFA are looking to host the up coming Scotland U21 international fixture with
Lithuania on Friday, October 12th, at the Leith San Siro.

The venue for the game is still to be announced, but it seems the SFA will plump for the home of the Hibees, after the success of past international games at the ground.

Easter Road last hosted a Scotland U-21 fixture back in 2003, when the Scots defeated the
Czech Republic 1-0 in front of a healthy 12,000. Put this in to context with the fact the last FULL international, against South Africa, was played at Pittodrie Stadium in Aberdeen in front of a measly 13,500.

The
Leith ground has also hosted THREE FULL internationals in the last few years in front of full houses, Scotland 3-1 Canada in 2003, Scotland 4-1 Trinidad & Tobago in 2004 and Scotland 1-4 Sweden in 2005.

There was also a warm up match played at the ground prior to the 2006 World Cup, when
Ghana defeated South Korea 3-1.
