Hibs appoint Nick Montgomery as Head Coach

Last updated : 11 September 2023 By Steve Forbes

Hibs have today announced that former Scotland U21 player Nick Montgomery has become the ./ new Head Coach.

The 41-year-old arrives at Easter Road following an incredible spell with Australian A-League side Central Coast Mariners.

Mongomery led the unfancied club to the top of the table last season, winning the A-League Grand Final against Melbounre City 6-1!

He brings his coaching team with him, Portuguese pair Sergio Raimundo (Assistant Head Coach) and Miguel de Oliveira Miranda (Goalkeeping Coach).

Hibs legend David Gray will also stay as part of the new coaching set-up at East Mains.

The former Sheffield United player has signed a 3-year-deal at Easter Road to replace Lee Johnson.

Speaking to the official club website, the new gaffer said:

“I took this opportunity to help Hibs become successful. The big picture is the Academy, there are some great young players in our Academy and within the First Team. There is a good blend of youth and experience in the First Team squad so I am really looking forward to working with everybody.

“It will take a bit of time to get to know the players, I like to watch the youth team games as well. The future of the Club is really bright, and I can’t wait to get started."

HIBS-MAD VIEW:

We are delighted with this news, he was the top choice of everyone at Hibs-Mad Towers.

We could have went the "tried and tested" route and went for a McInnes or a Robinson, but this is an exciting, out the box, appointment at Easter Road.

Everyone needs to now get behind him, and the fans need to give him some time.

Welcome to the Hibees Nick!!!
